PlainHealth (Regulated Accessible Technology for Easier Communication and Interaction in Healthcare)
PlainHealth (Regulated Accessible Technology for Easier Communication and Interaction in Healthcare) is a project under the AEI 2025 Proof of Concept call, aimed at validating accessible tools in real-world settings to improve communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
Building on the results of ACCESS2MEET (PID2020-116527RB-I00), it seeks to transform the core technology of its modular accessible video-communication platform into a solution ready for adoption in the socio-healthcare sector, with a focus on cognitive accessibility through language technologies such as natural language processing (NLP), automatic speech recognition (ASR), and human–computer interaction (HCI), leveraging LLMs.
Validation is planned across four scenarios: remote video consultations (captions, accessible chat, and plain-language reports), in-person consultations (voice input and an easy-to-understand summary), residential/care settings (accessible multimodal interfaces), and voice-based access in low digital literacy contexts.
The project is supported by partners including Fundación Hospitalarias, ADD Informática, and Cruz Roja Española to foster validation and real-world adoption.
