Abstract

The one hour talk will provide an overview about the problem of text classification that means to assign a predefined category to a text (for instance, if a news is about economy of sports), main architectures to face this task, how to  evaluate the performance as well as some challenges concerning it. Some examples of different input files as well as required preprocessing methods before applying text classification methods will also be explained. The talk will include some minutes for Q&As.    

 

Prof. Yaakov HaCohen-Kerner is the Head of the Research Authority of the Jerusalem College of Technology (JCT), Jerusalem, Israel. He also teaches at the Computer Science Department of JCT.  Yaakov's current main research is Text Classification. Other research domains are sentiment analysis, author profiling, Word completion and prediction, Key-phrase extraction, Citation extraction and analysis, Plagiarism detection, and Composition of chess and checkers problems.
