Rémi Cardon

Short Bio

Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer science at the Carlos III University of Madird (UC3M) and researcher at the Human Language and Accessibility Technologies (HULAT) group. Elected board member of ATALA, the French scientific association for Natural Language Processing.

He obtained his PhD in Natural Language Processing from the University of Lille, France, with a thesis centered around the automatic simplification of biomedical texts in French, for which he produced a series of freely available datasets. He further investigated automatic text simplification and other areas such as readability or automated essay scoring during postdoc experiences in Belgium, at the Université Catholique de Louvain and Universiteit Gent. He participated in the organization of various scientific events and shared tasks: DEFT @ TALN 2020, TALN 2021, READI @ LREC 2022, READI @ LREC-COLING 2024, MLSP @ BEA 2024, and is an active reviewer and area chair for the major conference of Natural Language Processing (ACL, EMNLP, EACL, COLING, LREC...).
